The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which includes Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, plans to create a system for regulating the circulation of organic products by preparing a special regulatory act.
“It was deemed advisable to build in the Union a system for regulating the circulation of organics by preparing a supranational act aimed at the mutual recognition of documents on the assessment of the conformity of organic production based on the unification of national legislation. This will ensure unhindered movement of organic agricultural products in the EAEU and create conditions for the realization of export potential amid growing global demand for organic products, ”the EEC said in a statement.
During the working meeting, the EEC ministers considered the issue of creating a common market for organic agricultural products in the EAEU.
“Today, in all countries of the Union, a legislative framework has been adopted for the development of organic agricultural production, the area of certified organic land is growing, which is about 900 thousand hectares, the number of producers of organic products has exceeded 1300,” said the EEC.
“The growth in demand for such products in the world in the near future will double the market volume, which can reach 200 billion US dollars,” said Artak Kamalyan, Minister for Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission, whose words are quoted in the message.
